Sportsbook sign-up offers: types, value and fine print

Updated

New-customer offers come in a few shapes: bet and get a bonus, win and get a bonus, a refund of a losing first bet, or a credit at an exchange. The headline number says little. What an offer is worth depends on how much of the bonus you can turn into cash and how much cash you have to risk to earn it. You can claim one offer per venue.

What types of sign-up offers exist?

Four shapes cover the offers SlateProof can price: bet and get, win and get, first-bet refund and exchange credit. Several are paid out over days. Deposit matches exist too, but SlateProof does not price them.

  • Bet and get: place a qualifying bet, win or lose, and receive bonus bets or credit. Some pay a set amount each day for several days.
  • Win and get: the bonus arrives only if the qualifying bet wins, so a heavy favorite is the better qualifier.
  • First-bet refund: if your first bet loses, it comes back as bonus bets up to a maximum. This is a no-sweat bet in all but name.
  • Exchange credit: a trading credit at an exchange after a deposit or a first trade. Whether the credit comes back after a win decides its value.

Which type of sign-up offer is worth the most?

None wins on its headline size. A first-bet refund of up to $1,500 sounds largest, but you collect the maximum only by risking that much cash, and the refund is a bonus bet. A bet-and-get offer pays for a $5 bet, so it can be worth far more per dollar risked.

TypeValueExampleEstimated value
Bet and getn x S x (p x d - 1) + B x cBet $5 at even money (49% fair chance), get $150 in bonus bets$97.40 at c = 65%; $116.90 at c = 78%
Win and getS x (p x d - 1) + p x B x cBet $10 on a -500 favorite (82% chance), get $150 if it wins$79.79 (at even money, 48%: $46.40)
First-bet refundS x (p x d - 1) + (1 - p) x c x SBet $100 at even money (49% chance), refunded as a bonus bet if it loses$31.15 at c = 65%

The conversion c is what a bonus-bet dollar turns into as cash. SlateProof uses 65% as a default, and hedged conversions on the best day were near 78% in offline tests. The estimates use fair chances, which are assumptions: the real value depends on the qualifying bet you can find. The bonus bets guide shows how to convert the bonus.

This table lists the offers in SlateProof's catalog that had not passed their end date on October 6, 2026, the date of this page's last update. Each carries the date its terms were checked, and offers change without notice, so an offer whose end date has passed has ended.

The venue's own app has the final say, and offers are for new customers only. A "not stated" end date means the operator published none. The sportsbooks page and the exchanges page compare the venues themselves.

Can I claim more than one sign-up offer?

Yes, one at each venue, as long as you are a new customer there and in a state where it operates. Each book limits its offer to one per person, and venues verify identity. Opening extra accounts or using another person's identity is fraud and is not something SlateProof helps with.

Because each offer is for new customers only, the order in which you open accounts matters less than whether you can afford the qualifying bets and the hedges. Claiming several at once spreads your cash thin, so many people work through them one at a time as the bonuses arrive.

Do sign-up offers differ by state?

Yes. Some offers exclude states and some have a different amount by state. BetMGM's first-bet refund leaves out several states and swaps in a win-and-get offer in four of them, and BetRivers' refund is $500, $250 or $100 depending on the state.

What are the minimum odds and expiry?

Most offers require a qualifying bet at a minimum price, commonly -500 or longer, and the bonus bets expire within days. The terms recorded for each offer are below, verbatim from the catalog.

OfferMinimum oddsTerms recorded
DraftKings: bet $5, get $150 in bonus bets-500 or longerWin or lose on your first $5+ bet at -500 or longer: six $25 bonus bets (two at settlement, two more on days 7 and 14 to claim), each expiring in 7 days.
FanDuel: bet $5 a day for 5 days, get $50 in bonus bets each day-500 or longerA $5+ bet each day for 5 days earns a $50 bonus bet that day ($250 in all). Some trackers list no odds minimum; bonus bets expire in 5-7 days.
BetMGM: first bet back up to $1,500 in bonus betsNone statedIf your first bet loses, BetMGM refunds it in bonus bets (five equal ones of 20% for $50+). Value shown for a full $1,500 first bet; a smaller bet scales down.
Fanatics: up to $100 FanCash a day for 10 days-200 or longerEach of your first 10 days, your first cash bet (-200 or longer, opt in) earns 100% back in FanCash up to $100, win or lose. FanCash converts 1:1 to bonus bets and expires in 7 days.
BetRivers: first bet back up to $500 in bonus betsNone statedIf your first bet loses, it comes back as one bonus bet. Expiry is reported as 7 to 30 days (unverified with BetRivers).
Hard Rock Bet: 10 daily $50 no-sweat tokensNone statedAfter a first $5 cash bet (-500 or longer), one no-sweat token a day for 10 days: a losing bet up to $50 comes back as a bonus bet. Each token expires the day it is issued; not on boosts.

A term the operator did not publish is marked as assumed in the catalog, and a figure that is not verified is said so. Bonus bets expire, so plan the conversion before you claim.

How do I convert a sign-up bonus to cash?

Bet the bonus on one outcome at the book and the opposite outcome with your own cash at another venue, sized so both results leave you the same profit. SlateProof's default estimate keeps 65% of a bonus bet, and the best hedges have reached about 78%.

The full method, with a worked example and the exchange fee included, is in the bonus bets guide. The bonus bet calculator gives the hedge stake for your prices. Offers that pay over several days repeat the qualifying bet and the conversion each day.

Do exchanges give sign-up offers?

Yes, usually as trading credits after a deposit or a first trade. Minimum ages are 18 at Kalshi, Polymarket US and ProphetX and 21 at Novig, and availability varies by state.

ExchangeTo qualifyCreditAgeEstimated valueTerms recorded
KalshiDeposit $10 and trade $25 within 30 days, win or lose.$25 (used up by one trade)18+$16.25Credit amounts vary by sign-up link ($25-60); the credit can't be withdrawn, only what it wins, and it expires 7 days after issue. Value shown for $25.
Polymarket USMake a first deposit of $10 or more; no trade is required.$25 (stays after a win)18+$23.75The credit stays in your balance after a win (only the gain is withdrawable), so it can be traded until it is lost: worth close to face at fair prices.
NovigDeposit $10; you get ten $5 credits.$50 (used up by one trade)21+$32.50Each $5 credit is used whole on one trade priced $0.01-$0.60 (about +9900 to -150); winnings are withdrawable. Credits last 30 days. No fees on pregame straight trades.
ProphetXTrade $50 in all at contract prices of $0.80 or less (about -400 or longer) within 30 days.$75 (used up by one trade)18+$48.75Three $25 incentive funds on days 1, 7 and 14; each must be used up before the next. Whether a winning trade returns the credit is unverified, so it is valued like a bonus bet.

The estimated value uses the credit's form: a credit used up by one trade converts like a bonus bet (65%), and one that stays in your balance after a win is worth about 95% of face. Exchanges are contested in some states (see the prediction markets guide), so check where each is available before you deposit.
