What courts and officials have done about exchanges in Montana

  • On Aug. 27, 2026, U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy denied Kalshi's motion for a preliminary injunction against Montana's enforcement of its gambling laws, saying Kalshi's repeated agreements to stay the case undercut its claim of irreparable harm. The underlying case continued at that point. Source: SportsBettingDime, checked October 6, 2026.
  • On Sept. 17, 2026, Kalshi and Montana filed an agreement to dismiss the federal suit. Montana must give 30 days' notice before enforcing its gambling laws against Kalshi, and reports say that step awaits the Ninth Circuit's handling of Kalshi's rehearing request.
