What does New York law say about sports betting?

New York authorizes mobile sports wagering from any location within the state, with bets accepted by equipment at a licensed commercial casino. The first mobile sports wager was placed on 2022-01-08, under nine 10-year licenses.   • On July 7, 2026, a federal judge in Manhattan denied Kalshi's request to block the New York State Gaming Commission from enforcing state gambling law against its sports contracts. The Commission had ordered Kalshi to stop offering them in a letter dated October 24, 2025.
